"I am fortunate to live in a time and place where I can pick up a piece of chalk, sensuously beautiful in color and softness, and use it to express my appreciation of belonging in this crazy world.
My art gives me happiness and a sense of control. I am constantly trying to understand my role in the belief that we humans are one with each other and all of the creatures on this complex, violent
earth. I marvel that so much power, grace, harmony and disruption can exist together. Too much mystery for me to comprehend, but I keep on trying to find the patterns of connection and painting them.

Portraiture of both people and animals fascinates me. I am in awe of the intelligent, loving creatures that are guide dogs for the blind. I help to raise guide dogs. It is so much easier (and more fun)
than the very hard work of art, but it too aligns me with the wonderful cycles and continuity of life."
